Lazzy Lung (pronounced Lazy) is the greatest independent band you’ve never heard of. The band was dubbed “Best Band” by Rolling Stone Magazine Middle East, in Dubai at the Gulf Bike Week Expo 11’ & nominated “Musician of the Year” 11’ by Esquire ME. With that praise in their back pocket, Lazzy Lung is poised for something big. Influenced by groups like The Foo Fighters and Collective Soul, and Two Door Cinema Club Lazzy Lung has maintained their artistic integrity and avoided being pigeonholed into one rock and roll sound with a dedicated fan-base to prove it. Based out of Beirut, Lebanon, the four-piece rock band was founded by Canadian singer and guitarist Allan Chaaraoui from an original solo project in 2006 in Ottawa, Canada. Their first full-length album, Strange Places, was recorded at Mixdown Studios with Karim Sinno in 2010 in Beirut, capturing the last four years of the band’s life and instrumental evolution. Using constant lyrical references to the bitter cold Canadian winter to bridge the gap between cultures, the Western rock band stands alone for the music being created in the Middle East. With an unparallel live show, Lazzy Lung’s energetic performances have won them spots on Lebanese television like Al Jadeed, LBC, AL HURRA and OTV. Citing influences from Canada like Arcade Fire and Attack in Black, the group is an eclectic mix crafting their own unique rock sound that’s landed them radio play across the middle east on Radio 1 Lebanon, MIX FM, Dubai Eye, as well as Canada’s CBC Radio 3, a feat in itself in the pop-music dominated country. Strange Places tackles the strange places both physical and mental that so many young adults endure in trying to sort out their self-identities. Questions of love, sex, and disappointments all are addressed with emotionally charged vocals and intense guitar-driven riffs. The lyrics offer a rare and honest perspective of the challenges of being a young person today trying to find their place. Elements of pop-punk influence can be heard in “On Standby” carrying this theme of uncertainty, accompanied by a more stripped folk rock feel on “Rains in October”. Their upbeat energetic rock sound is derived from the town they call home Beirut, a self-proclaimed “party-city.” Lazzy Lung wants to be the soundtrack to the best party of your life. “We’re Olympians of our scene!” says Chaaraoui. Indeed, they’ve leaped hurdles to successfully gain international media attention and festival invites, but after a series of awards and winning regional competitions things are moving quickly. Lazzy Lung’s next move is to release their Second Album EP "Sailors delight" which depicts the party life and decadence in the streets, bars, & bedrooms of Beirut laughing in the face of Armageddon. Lazzy Lung will skip across the oceans for their "Sailor's Delight Tour" (Exact dates and venues have yet to be confirmed) with the support of Rolling Stone Magazine ME /Ray-Ban/ Triplew.me / 961 Beer. The Album sets the highly charged energetic tone and a progression for Lazzy Lung demonstrating newfound control and maturity over their sound that will leave you craving for more.
